Ground Chili Peppers

Ground chili peppers do not contain preservatives or added spices.  Each year, chili pepper crops throughout the US, Mexico and South America are harvested in late summer.  From there the harvested peppers are processed, dried and ground into a powder.  Depending on the pepper, the end result may be a red or green chili powder that is mild, medium, hot or extra hot!  As a rule ground chili peppers do best in a cool dark environment where they can be kept in a stable temperature as much as possible.  Because these peppers do not have any preservatives, they will lose their potency quicker than chili powder blends.  When kept properly, ground chili peppers should last at least six months.
